FAQs
We have tried to cover all the questions people may ask when considering coming paddle boarding with us. If you don’t find the answer you are looking for below, then please get in touch with us and we will be happy to help.
How clean is the River Avon?
The river water quality is good & Rich has swam along the river many times so we can be assured that water is safe enough for getting a bit wet or falling in but we wouldn’t advise drinking it. No problem to mess about in the water though, it’s all part of the experience and our instructor will be on hand to help anyone with any queries or concerns.
What if I’ve never done Paddleboarding before?
Don’t worry, our lessons are designed specifically for you! It will be fun and we’ll go at a pace that suits everyone in the group – it’s easier than you might think!
What if the weather is bad?
If it’s raining we will just get wet, and it’s all part of being on the river, but if the winds are over about 10-12 knots we will have to cancel as it’s more difficult to paddle when the wind gets up and your safety & enjoyment is our main priority!
What’s your cancellation policy?
If you cancel within 48 hours I’m afraid it’s non refundable but if for whatever reason you need to postpone and you can provide us with 3-10 day’s notice, we’ll provide a 50% refund and if it’s more than 10 days notice, we will be happy to refund in full.
What should I bring?
You need to bring appropriate clothing for the weather conditions. Something you’re comfortable to paddle in and don’t mind getting wet; Shorts, t-shirts, leggings or additional layers if colder. We recommend quick drying material. A wetsuit is ideal for those of you that feel a chill and there’s nothing better than your own if you have one, but we do also have a small selection of wetsuits, we just can’t guarantee one for every size and shape – do contact us before the event if you have any concerns. Ideally we recommend you bring some form of sea-shoe for your footwear or old trainers you don’t mind getting wet. Please also bring a water bottle, sun cream & sunhat if it’s warm! Leave designer watches and jewellery at home or wear at your own risk! Please also remember your towel and a dry change of clothes!
Are there changing rooms on-site?
There are no changing rooms or loos on site so we recommend you come prepared and relieved! There is however, a pub right next to the launch called The Fleet so you could nip in there to use the loo if needed!
What is the minimum age allowed?
We’d suggest not younger than 10 years old but please call or email to discuss any specific requirements. Under 18’s must be accompanied by an adult.
Do I have to be able to swim?
All participants will be required to wear the buoyancy aids provided and will be asked to sign a waiver to declare that they are able to swim 50m. If you’d still like to have go but are not certain, please get in contact to discuss with our instructor.
